Community Goals & Permanent Supporter Price Drop

Published On: July 29, 2025/Categories: News, Updates/

Hey Folks,

I wanted to take some time to thank you guys for playing on the server, and a thank you to those of you who have decided to monetarily support the server by purchasing the supporter role subscription. I’ve started running into a problem recently – in that I never can restart the server to work on it, because we always have 15+ people online. We even recently hit our all time (post-bot invasion of 2023) record of concurrent players. I am super proud of the server community we have established both in-game and also in the discord.

We also just hit 10 concurrent supporter subscriptions! This is a huge milestone for a server as small as ours, and I am thrilled that so many of you (and folks in the past who may not subscribe anymore, but did – in kindness) decided to support my work on the server. I have always said – I run the server as my hobby. I enjoy it – I pay for the hardware and handle all the software. I will pay for it out of pocket many times, but it’s nice to have extra spending money to support the developers of many of the plugins we use, and to purchase new ones to add new features. Being a supporter is NEVER an obligation – or a long-term commitment (You may cancel at any time, even if you only want to use the features for a month).

All that being said, I often feel that I neglect those folks who do support the server financially – in order to prevent “cliques” from forming in the community. Then again, I suspect that maybe many of the supporters are willing to support the server because I do not put an emphasis on the money. I want supporters to be the people who include others, the kinds of folks who say hello when you join, or are the first to offer up materials when you ask about them in chat. Thankfully, most of our members (supporters and non) are those kinds of people.

Money is a complicated subject. I believe it is the root of much evil, but it’s also the tool for much good. Would it be cool to make $70k a year from my Minecraft server? Sure. Would that bring an immense amount of pressure and misery to me? Yes. However, in my effort to ensure money is not my “core tenet”, I often neglect perfectly good marketing opportunities to increase our financial security. One of the things I’ve really wanted to do is reduce the cost of the supporter role. I think that the $7.99 is just too much. However, Many people feel like that’s a fine number, or could even be slightly higher (I disagree, but thanks). In an effort to appease myself and reduce the price, I decided awhile ago to begin tracking a sort of “community goal” for active supporters. Anytime we hit 10 more active supporter subscriptions – I want to reduce the price by a $1 – until we get the price down to $4.99 a month.

Now, I know the number of active subscriptions is going to change month to month, but I am going to do this based on just hitting that number at any point. We just hit 10 active supporter subscriptions – which means I will be reducing the price of the subscription to $6.99 effective immediately. The next price drop will be if we ever hit 20 active subscriptions at one time. Right now, that sounds impossible – but honestly, I never imagined we’d hit 10. So, I don’t want to sell ourselves short here.

With all that being said – thank you for enjoying the server, and being apart of the community. If you care to check out the supporter rank, you can do so here.

I’m more than happy to stay at the current price and not go down. I’d even be willing to go up some, but as you can’t modify then I’ll stay where I am. Thanks for everything.
